Ofsted: Inspection Report

Following the recent inspection, the Ofsted report has now been published. We are extremely pleased to be able to inform you that we received a 'good' rating in all categories of the inspection. The report is not yet on Ofsted's website. When it is, which should be in the next few days, I will provide a link for those who wish to read the report in full. In the meantime, a few quotes.

The school "provides a good quality of education for its pupils."
"The provision for the welfare, health and safety of pupils is good; safeguarding arrangements are securely in place."
"The quality of teaching and assessment is good, and, as a result, pupils make good progress."

Please check back for the full report when it becomes available on the Ofsted website.

Choir Competition
Sixteen members of the school choir took part in a competition at Huddersfield Grammar School last Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, we did not win, but the adjudicator had some very complimentary things to say about our singing. A very big thank you goes to the children who gave up their Saturday afternoon on such a lovely day, to Miss Riley for all the hard work she has put into training the choir and to the parents who came along to support the children. Many thanks to everyone!

Doodle for Google

Slightly old news now. I'm certain you'll have noticed that the World Cup is almost upon us. This year, Google are running a competition to design a new logo to be displayed on their homepage. Prizes include laptops, goodie bags, and seeing your design displayed on the Internet. Five of our children have entered the competition: the deadline has now been and gone. Should any of our children succeed in being selected, we will let you know.

Magna Visit

Last week was truly a busy one. As well as Ofsted, Classes 3 and 4 visited Magna in Rotherham.

"On Monday 10th of May, 3B and 4H went to Magna. We went to the park first and I went on the rocket, and slid on the bar. Mrs Hudson and I went on the trampoline. I got off because I thought it was too hard. Mrs Brushett called all of us to line up. Then we went inside. In the fire zone, we went to the tornado. You pressed a button, which squirted fuel onto a plate. Then the air started blowing, sparks flew and we saw a fire tornado. When the fire went up, everyone gasped." Kaleem.

Ofsted Visit

Last week, a team of Ofsted inspectors visited our school (Weds 12th and Thurs 13th of May). We had an extremely good two days with the Inspectors. We are not permitted to reveal the outcome until their report is published. However, we will inform you as soon as that happens, and you will be sent a copy of the report as soon as it is available.
