Eid
We hope everyone who was celebrating Eid had a lovely time.
Thank you to all those parents who filled in the forms telling us which days their child would be absent, and thank you to all those who informed the office of changes. However, many parents simply sent their children into school on Tuesday without informing us of the change to arrangements. This caused a huge problem as we had only ordered meals for 30 children, but needed to serve 47. Luckily, the kitchen at St. Barnabas was able to accomodate the change, but we could have been in a position where we would have been unable to feed 17 of the children. In future, please keep us informed of any changes - in advance where possible.
Children in Need
With children absent for Eid, we have not raised as much as usual, However, I am pleased to announce that we have, so far, raised £134.72.
Poppies
As soon as we know how much money was raised, we will let you know.
Book Clubs
Orders were distributed last week. However, we have one order that has not been collected. If you think it is your order, please come to the office.
Yellow Moon
Orders from the Yellow Moon catalogue MUST be in school by 9am Tuesday 23rd (tomorrow), in order to meet the deadline for deliveries by the end of term.

We have reached a grand total of 1,537 vouchers. Thank you to all who brought them in. The order must be placed this Wednesday so, if you still have any, please bring them in.

1M's Cannon Hall visit 29/06/10
I saw some goats, and one goat put his face in front
of me. I saw some pigs: they were sleeping.
I saw a bull and they were really smelly and I saw
one of them pooing! It smelt very bad.
We saw some birds. They were camouflaged
so it was very hard to see them. Then we went
to the play area. I went on a big slide and
and one person went down on his back head
first on the end of the slide. Anuli, Farhan and Sana played spies. Then it was time for lunch. I had a cheese
sandwich, some biscuits, and some apple juce. Then
we went back to see the animals. We saw some baby
rabbits: they were born with no fur. Then we saw guinea pigs.
When they were born, they had lots of fur.
Freddie, 1M.

Please bring all bags of clothes, bedding, etc to school this Thursday morning when you bring the children. Remember that there is no limit to the number of bags you can bring: you're not limited to the bags provided. Everything will be recycled, and this will help raise funds for school.
Class Photographs
Every child is bringing home a copy of their class photograph for parents to look at. If you would like to keep the photograph, please send £9.50 in the envelope provided, to the office. If you do not want the photograph, please return it to school in mint condition.
Sunhats
School sunhats, priced £5, are now available from the Office. Please note that children are not allowed to wear other sunhats in school.

Ofsted: Inspection Report
Following the recent inspection, the Ofsted report has now been published. We are extremely pleased to be able to inform you that we received a 'good' rating in all categories of the inspection. The report is not yet on Ofsted's website. When it is, which should be in the next few days, I will provide a link for those who wish to read the report in full. In the meantime, a few quotes.
The school "provides a good quality of education for its pupils."
"The provision for the welfare, health and safety of pupils is good; safeguarding arrangements are securely in place."
"The quality of teaching and assessment is good, and, as a result, pupils make good progress."
Please check back for the full report when it becomes available on the Ofsted website.

Reach for the Stars: Newsletter - Monday 24th May
Cricket Training
There will be no cricket training this week when we finish schoolo. One of our Y6 boys has been successful in being picked for the Yorkshire Under 11 B team. He hopes to be promoted to the A team sson.
Choir Competition
Sixteen members of the school choir took part in a competition at Huddersfield Grammar School last Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, we did not win, but the adjudicator had some very complimentary things to say about our singing. A very big thank you goes to the children who gave up their Saturday afternoon on such a lovely day, to Miss Riley for all the hard work she has put into training the choir and to the parents who came along to support the children. Many thanks to everyone!
Advance Notice
We are holding a Bollywood night for ladies towards the end of the summer term. More details will follow after the holiday.

Doodle for Google
Slightly old news now. I'm certain you'll have noticed that the World Cup is almost upon us. This year, Google are running a competition to design a new logo to be displayed on their homepage. Prizes include laptops, goodie bags, and seeing your design displayed on the Internet. Five of our children have entered the competition: the deadline has now been and gone. Should any of our children succeed in being selected, we will let you know.
Magna Visit
"On Monday 10th of May, 3B and 4H went to Magna. We went to the park first and I went on the rocket, and slid on the bar. Mrs Hudson and I went on the trampoline. I got off because I thought it was too hard. Mrs Brushett called all of us to line up. Then we went inside. In the fire zone, we went to the tornado. You pressed a button, which squirted fuel onto a plate. Then the air started blowing, sparks flew and we saw a fire tornado. When the fire went up, everyone gasped." Kaleem.
Ofsted Visit
Last week, a team of Ofsted inspectors visited our school (Weds 12th and Thurs 13th of May). We had an extremely good two days with the Inspectors. We are not permitted to reveal the outcome until their report is published. However, we will inform you as soon as that happens, and you will be sent a copy of the report as soon as it is available.

Up and running.
It's taken a while, squeezing the creation of this in between other, more urgent jobs, but here goes. Welcome.
This blog is intended to keep parents of children in school updated: trips, visitors, events. All the ongoing things that are so much a part of school life.
